Under the direction of the Director of Community Support Services, the non-union Adult Day Coordinator will be based in Kenora and be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Adult Day Program-Club Day Away (ADP). ADP runs out of Pinecrest Home but is for seniors and those living with dementia in the community. It provides social and emotional stimulation and support while also providing respite to their caregivers.
The successful applicant will have experience working in group settings and a demonstrated ability to show compassion, empathy, adaptability and patience. They will be organized and have the ability to work with minimal supervision and be responsible for managing one ADP staff and volunteers. Community Support Services is a team-oriented organization that supports all programs under our umbrella and the Adult Day Coordinator is an important member of that team.
The successful applicant will have a knowledge of the healthcare system and the obstacles faced in our area with relevant, hands-on experience working with seniors, community partners and working in group settings. A post-secondary education in Recreational Therapy, Social Services Worker, Personal Support Worker or a relevant field of study would be considered an asset.
Responsibilities:
- To access community referrals for program eligibility
- To organize and execute daily activities and social visits with clients both on-site and in the community
- To provide assistance of daily living, entertainment and home cooked lunch to clients during ADP days
- Connect clients and families to community partners based on their needs
- Arrange and/or provide transportation to clients as required
- To keep accurate records of clients attendance and visits for ministry submission
- Continuing education and implementation for recreational activities for seniors and dementia clients
