Position Summary
As a Personal Support Worker (PSW), you will work as an integral member of the interdisciplinary care team to provide assistance with activities of daily living and support residents in maintaining their dignity, independence, and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct resident care in accordance with care plans and established standards.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
- Support residents with meals, hydration, and nutrition.
- Observe, report, and document changes in residents’ physical, emotional, and cognitive status.
- Promote resident comfort, safety, and well-being.
- Foster positive relationships with residents, families, and team members.
- Follow infection prevention and control practices, workplace safety requirements, and organizational policies.
- Participate in resident-focused programs and activities that enhance quality of life.
Qualifications
- Personal Support Worker Certificate from an approved educational institution.
- Registered with the Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA), or eligible to register.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification is considered an asset.
- Previous experience in long-term care, retirement living, or healthcare is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to providing respectful, compassionate, and resident-centered care.
