As you begin the application process to long term care, you will be assigned a Ontario Health atHome caseworker who will act as your main contact throughout the process. It is recommended that you tour several long term care homes and select the ones where you think you or your loved one would be most comfortable living. When a bed becomes available at one of the homes you selected, you will be notified by the Ontario Health atHome (in accordance with the waiting list). Couples who would like to live together should discuss their request with their local Ontario Health atHome care coordinator or the Admission Coordinator at Kenora District Homes. Pets must be under the control of their owners at all times while visiting in the home. Pets must have appropriate and up-to-date vaccinations. Owners are responsible to clean up after any pet accidents.
