The District of Kenora Homes for the Aged is currently seeking a compassionate and collaborative BSO Social Worker / Admissions Lead to join our team at Princess Court in Dryden, Ontario.
Reporting to the Site Administrator, the successful candidate will work closely with residents, families, interdisciplinary team members, and community partners to support older adults experiencing responsive behaviours related to dementia, mental health, addictions, or other neurological conditions. This position also plays a key role in coordinating resident admissions and supporting families through the transition into long-term care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide counselling, coaching, care planning, and therapeutic support for residents and families
- Support staff in the use of responsive behaviour approaches including PIECES and U-First
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and evaluate resident-centred interventions
- Complete psychosocial and behavioural assessments for residents
- Participate in resident care conferences and BSO meetings
- Coordinate admissions, resident tours, and orientation to the home
- Liaise with Home and Community Care Support Services regarding admissions
- Support quality improvement initiatives and maintain required reporting/statistics
- Promote a safe and supportive environment for residents, families, and staff
Qualifications
- Current registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
- Experience working within a health care setting
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of dementia care, responsive behaviours, and long-term care practices considered an asset
- Experience with Behavioural Supports Ontario programming is preferred
