Wage Range – $21.07-$24.79/hour
The District of Kenora Homes for the Aged is currently seeking caring, dependable, and team-oriented individuals to join our Nutrition & Food Services team as a Dietary Aide. This position plays an important role in supporting the health, comfort, and overall dining experience of our residents within a long-term care environment.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Food Services Supervisor, the Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting with meal service, dining room setup and cleanup, dishwashing duties, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the care team to ensure residents receive quality meal service that meets their dietary needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve nourishment carts
- Serve residents during mealtimes, including specialized diets
- Set up and clean dining rooms before and after meals
- Wash dishes, pots, and kitchen equipment
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards within the dietary department
- Follow infection prevention and control practices
- Comply with fire safety and Occupational Health & Safety requirements
- Attend required education sessions and meetings
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 12 education
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Food Service Worker Certificate or willingness to obtain
- Safe Food Handling Level 1 Certificate or willingness to obtain
- Experience in food service, preferably in a health care or long-term care setting, is considered an asset
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical
