Jess Rheault

Director of Community Support Services

I married my high school sweetheart, Clint, in 2001. Our daughter Shai is 20 and our son Jaden is 15. I have been a community coach and volunteer for nearly 30 years in a variety of sports with the most time spent at the hockey rink. Me-time involves swinging the golf clubs with my ladies and spending time at the lake. I spent 12 years as the Executive Director of Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation before moving to DKHCSS in August 2021 where I have found a new love of community work helping our seniors make their last days their best days.

Sarah Lava

Supervisor, Kenora Supportive Housing

I am a proud and busy dance mom to my 14-year-old. In my free time, I enjoy gardening, DIY, am an avid reader and am always excited to discover and cook new recipes. I have worked for the District of Kenora Homes since 2001, where I started my lifelong career with seniors. Working first in long-term care as a Personal Support Worker before becoming a Registered Practical Nurse in 2004. I worked as an educator in healthcare from 2016 to 2021. In 2019, I took on my current role with Community Support Services and the Supportive Housing program. Assisting our seniors in the community to access the services they need to age well at home is challenging but very rewarding.

Jess Plante

Regional Palliative Volunteer Coordinator

I am a Kenora local who graduated from the Practical Nursing Program in 2012. I have gained valuable experience while at Lake of the Woods District Hospital and being an educator for Confederation College in the Personal Support Worker and Practical Nursing Programs here at our local campus.

I like to spend my spare time with family, friends and my dog, Bruno. I also enjoy travelling, hiking, and participating in outdoor activities. In March of 2024 I decided to join Community Support Services as the Regional Palliative Care Coordinator.

I look forward to supporting clients with chronic life-limiting illnesses through the Visiting Hospice service and growing our volunteer program in the region.

Client Services

I joined the Community Support Services team in 2015 and found my passion for helping seniors.

I have 3 beautiful children and enjoy spending my free time with them. We are outdoors people and spend summers on the lake and winters fishing and sledding.

I consider it an honour to work with seniors and hope that I make a difference in their lives.

Marianne Robertson

Community Support Services Red Lake Area Coordinator

I am a local girl who married a bush pilot. I have 2 wonderful kids and 2 special grandchildren. My happy place is being outside enjoying a walk or a good book by the lake. For most of my life I have worked serving the public. I grew up working in my parents’ convenience store. I worked in Manitoba as a Recreation Director for 3 years and then came back to Red Lake to run one of the local recreation facilities. It just felt natural to work for Community Support. Our clients are my people. The job and programs continue to grow. You might find me delivering Meals, driving clients, fixing telephones, making meat pies, organizing Christmas teas or having a cup of tea with someone. It is a very rewarding job helping make someone else’s life a little bit easier.

Community Support Services Coordinator

Driven by my passion, I have over 24 years of experience in geriatric care with diverse needs within homes and different living environments. Recognized for ability to possess excellent patient care, I was fortunate to provide mentorship guidance at Robertson College in Winnipeg as Health Care Aide Clinical Instructor for 3.5 years. Seeking to leverage my skills, I managed my own healthcare agency for 5 years before I moved to Ontario. I joined DKHCSS in October 2020 as a dedicated leader with strong team building abilities, persevering to make positive impact in the lives of those we serve. I am truly blessed to get to do what I love and in turn, I love what I do.
