Environmental Services Manager – Princess Court – Dryden, ON

Salary Range – $77,195.66-$93,135.89 (will increase in 2026 to $79,511.53-$95,929.97)

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Must have a minimum Grade 12 Diploma with related experience in Environmental Services. A diploma or equivalent in education or experience in the building trades would be an asset. Working knowledge of HVAC systems, fire safety systems, and boiler heating systems. Demonstrated ability in leadership, administration, effective communication (verbal, written, and electronic), and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of housekeeping and laundry operations, including infection control procedures, chemical handling, fabric care, and cleaning standards, is required. Experience in scheduling, quality assurance, and maintaining high cleanliness and sanitation standards within healthcare or long-term care settings is considered an asset.


JOB SUMMARY

Responsible to the Administrator for the provision, coordination, and supervision of all environmental services within the Home, including maintenance, housekeeping, and laundry operations.


JOB DUTIES

1. Principal Duties

a) Develops, implements, supervises, and evaluates all environmental services programs, including maintenance, housekeeping, and laundry departments.
b) Ensures the Home meets all applicable governmental regulations related to environmental services, infection prevention and control, and resident safety.
c) Knows and interprets Home policies, procedures, and practices and communicates these to staff.
d) Establishes, updates, and reviews departmental policies and procedures for maintenance, housekeeping, and laundry.
e) Maintains accurate records and reports for all environmental services functions.
f) Works with the Administrator and Director of Finance to develop and control the environmental services budget, including supplies and equipment for housekeeping and laundry.
g) Shares responsibility for recruiting, employing, training, disciplining, and releasing environmental services personnel in conjunction with the management team.
h) Ensures that employee records and evaluations are maintained for all personnel within the department.
i) Organizes fire drills for all Home personnel.
j) Ensures that personnel receive orientation and ongoing education related to safety, infection control, and quality standards.
k) Plans and supervises all building operations, ensuring a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
l) Develops, evaluates, and implements a comprehensive preventative maintenance program.
m) Oversees the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall appearance of the Home, including resident rooms, common areas, laundry facilities, and surrounding grounds.
n) Ensures proper use, storage, and maintenance of housekeeping and laundry equipment and chemicals.
o) Monitors inventory and ensures adequate supplies for housekeeping and laundry operations.


2. Education, Health & Safety

a) Attends meetings and educational programs as required.
b) Complies with Infection Control policies and procedures.
c) Complies with Fire and Safety Regulations and maintains proficiency in sounding fire alarms, fire evacuation procedures, and proper use of extinguishing equipment to ensure the security and protection of residents.
d) Works in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act to maintain a safe working environment.
e) Reports accidents and/or safety concerns to the Administrator immediately.
f) Performs monthly workplace inspections in areas of responsibility.
g) Promotes adherence to health and safety standards across all environmental service areas.
h) Ensures staff receive necessary health and safety training and have access to personal protective equipment.


3. Other

a) Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Administrator.
